The ATHENS 2004 Olympic Torch was presented on January 15, 2003 by IOC President Dr Jacques Rogge and ATHENS 2004 President Mrs Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, during an event at the new Convention Centre of the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.

An olive leaf is the symbol of the Olympic torch that will carry the messages and values of the 2004 Olympic Games throughout the world. The Olympic torch is considered to be one of the most powerful symbols of every Olympic Games.
